Seattle Bride - Fall/Winter 2005 Edition

Picture Perfect
By Ali Basye

In many ways your wedding photographer is the most important investment of the day. After all, the vows, meet-and-greet and celebration pass by in a blur. Every day that leads to the exciting moment when the photographer delivers your wedding pictures becomes an exercise in comparing notes: Did Mom get a dance with Grandpa? Did you see the big eyes on the children? + Fortunately, your photographer documented each precious moment, from the finishing touches on your lipstick to the mad dash to the getaway car amid flying rose petals. The events of the whirlwind day are presented in a cohesive order and, better yet, you discover surprising and special moments: your grandmother's expression as you exchanged vows; a blushing cousin peeping into the bride's dressing room. Your day was more beautiful than you ever imagined! + Choose wisely when selecting the best person to document your day. Photographs preserve the wedding forever, and will be cherished for years to come—not just by you, but also by friends, family and, perhaps someday, your own children and grandchildren. + Northwest brides can feel fortunate that this region is home to a bounty of talented and award-winning wedding photographers. We've featured some of them on the following pages—each with an original personality and style that will offer great ideas for your wedding photos. Take note, take advantage and breathe a sigh of relief. Your celebration will be magical.

Real life comes from happy images. For instance, that really is a flying baby. Look close, and you can see the guy in the background, behind Heidi and Justin Brager's newlywed kiss at Beau Lodge on September 6, 2003, giving the baby a toss. The young guest was getting playfully roused for an upcoming group photo when Bellingham photographer Michele M. Waite crouched down to catch this fun and spontaneous moment before formal portraits.

Photographs preserve the wedding forever, and will be cherished for years to come - not just by you, but also by friends, family and, perhaps someday, your own children and grandchildren.
